TP Matrix has launched an initiative to pass on its expertise to the next generation of electronics technicians.
Focusing on skilled key processes, the new internal programme has its first certification with apprentice Mark passing his mask and varnish (M&V) skills test.
Mark, who has been with TP Matrix for two years, is now proficient in the preparation, application, inspection and safety aspects of the conformal coating processes, as well as the maintenance of associated equipment.
Conformal coating is a specially engineered, polymeric film-forming product that protects circuit boards, components, and other electronic devices from the harmful effects of environmental conditions such as moisture, thermal shock, static, vibration, and contamination.
Coatings ‘conform’ to the irregular landscape of the printed circuit board (PCB), increasing dielectric resistance, operational integrity, and reliability.
Production manager, Ian Entwistle, said: “We recognise the importance of sharing our years of knowledge with our apprentices and training them in specialised areas of our industry.
“For maximum benefit, the new scheme will run alongside the other outsourced training our apprentices already receive.”
