TP Matrix Restores Obsolete Alstom Units
The trains have been in service since 2004 with an expected service life of 35/40 years. The train manufacturer had expected the DCUs to last the life of the trains.
Alstom contacted us following previous work we’d carried out for them on similar DCUs.
After carrying out a condition assessment we found around 30 components to be at risk either from age, heat damage or wear. An obsolescence assessment was conducted and replacement components where sourced or alternatives (fit, form, function) were suggested.
TP Matrix was able to offer a repair solution that included a mandatory change out of at-risk components as well as development of bespoke test equipment.
