On behalf of its customer TP Matrix performed a detailed Condition Assessment on a small batch of DCU\u2019s to determine those components deemed to be at risk of failure or past their operational life expectancy.<\/p>\n

The objective of the project was to significantly improve the fleet Reliability, reduce Repair Lead Times and reduce Operational Costs.<\/p>\n

With limited technical information available, TP Matrix engineers used Reverse Engineering techniques to produce a detailed Technical Specification to fully understand the functionality of the product. Following this process, software was written to enable full testing of the DCUs on Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).<\/p>\n

In total, 135 like for like (or better) components were replaced on each DCU at a rate of 4 units per week.
All work was carried out to IPC7711 & IPC610 standards.<\/p>\n

Au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, le mat\u00e9riel roulant de la classe 175 bas\u00e9 au d\u00e9p\u00f4t de Chester Traincare a connu une augmentation des pannes au niveau des unit\u00e9s de commande des portes (DCU).Contexte : Pour le compte de son client, TP Matrix a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 une \u00e9valuation d\u00e9taill\u00e9e de l\u2019\u00e9tat d\u2019un petit lot de DCU afin d\u2019identifier les composants pr\u00e9sentant un risque de d\u00e9faillance ou ayant d\u00e9pass\u00e9 leur dur\u00e9e de vie utile. L\u2019objectif du projet \u00e9tait d\u2019am\u00e9liorer consid\u00e9rablement la fiabilit\u00e9 de la flotte, de r\u00e9duire les d\u00e9lais de r\u00e9paration et de diminuer les co\u00fbts d\u2019exploitation. Disposant d\u2019informations techniques limit\u00e9es, les ing\u00e9nieurs de TP Matrix ont eu recours \u00e0 des techniques de r\u00e9tro-ing\u00e9nierie pour \u00e9tablir un cahier des charges technique d\u00e9taill\u00e9 permettant de comprendre pleinement le fonctionnement du produit. \u00c0 l\u2019issue de ce processus, un logiciel a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 pour permettre de tester int\u00e9gralement les DCU sur un \u00e9quipement de test automatique (ATE). Au total, 135 composants \u00e9quivalents (ou de meilleure qualit\u00e9) ont \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9s sur chaque DCU, \u00e0 raison de 4 unit\u00e9s par semaine.Tous les travaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9s conform\u00e9ment aux normes IPC7711 et IPC610. 212 DCU ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9vis\u00e9es, ce qui a entra\u00een\u00e9 une r\u00e9duction de 901 TP3T du nombre de pannes par rapport aux chiffres enregistr\u00e9s avant la r\u00e9vision. The objective of the project was to significantly improve the fleet Reliability, reduce Repair Lead Times and reduce Operational Costs. With limited technical information available, TP Matrix engineers used Reverse Engineering techniques to produce a detailed Technical Specification to fully understand the functionality of the product. Following this process, software was written to enable full testing of the DCUs on Automatic Test Equipment (ATE). In total, 135 like for like (or better) components were replaced on each DCU at a rate of 4 units per week.All work was carried out to IPC7711 & IPC610 standards.212 DCU\u2019s have been overhauled resulting in a 90% reduction in failures compared to figures prior to the overhaul.
