The Class 390 Pendolino tilting trains have been in service since 2002 and following a routine assessment by maintenance company Alstom it was deemed the Auxiliary Converter Unit electronics should undergo an overhaul.
The ACU had developed increasingly repeat faults which could only be rectified by the OEM in Italy and with Brexit looming, future delays in the repair process were inevitable.<\/p>\n
TP Matrix were invited to provide a proposal to overhaul 4000 Power Supply Units consisting of 5V DC & 24V DC units.<\/p>\n
A Condition Assessment was carried out on a small batch from which an Overhaul proposal was submitted and accepted by Alstom.<\/p>\n
The proposal included a recommended replacement of components confirmed to be approaching end of life and being the cause of the persistent failures. Test equipment was designed and built to provide a full functional test of the PSUs.<\/p>\n
The overhaul program is well underway at a rate of 76 units per week. TP Matrix routinely collect and deliver from the Longsight depot in Manchester hence taking the hassle out of packaging and transport for the customer. The units are delivered lineside ensuring ease of swap out for the depot staff.<\/p>\n
Since the program started, failures have reduced by ********<\/p>\n
TP Matrix will continue to support the products during the overhaul and beyond.<\/p>\n
